This client's custom built-ins had been built for a CRT television in the left cabinet and a stack of equipment in the right, but he wanted to upgrade to a large HDTV, without changing the look and feel of the room.
To accomplish this we had to do some 'out of the box' design. We relocated the equipment stack (including new HD sources) to the left cabinet, and re-engineered the right cabinet with a punch through to take advantage of an unused nook in the adjacent closet (we were actually able to make the closet more usable by having shelves added around our enclosure). The result; we fit a top of the line Sony 46" TV into a cabinet that was 36" wide.
